A Military Headset
A Military Headset was aquired from Blochairn market. Quite a nice deal, I have to say.
I’d really like to use it for comms equipment and / or voip chat while playing “Battlefield 2″tm, for a slightly more realistic game.
To acheive this I could snip off the rather unique connector and re-wire with contemporary civillian connections. I’d really rather avoid the destruction of such a nice piece of equipment, however.
So; the task becomes to source a female connector.
For reference; here’s some pictures.
The Connector viewed from the front:

The Connector viewed from the side:

It is marked with the following identifying numbers:
The Headband on a yellow stripe: 901-0407- (other side; same stripe) 5995-99-
The cabling that connects to the radio near the right earphone on a white stripe: 5965-99-949-8136
Initial investigation leads me to believe that these markings could be “Nato Numbers”; from http://www.armyradio.com.
Off I go in earnest now, to ferret out a matching connector.
Over and out,
Kenny
– Update: It turns out that this connector will fit the syncal 30, TRA 931 by Racal, an HF man-pack radio.

Good luck man! Quite an interesting project.
I’m so use to plugging headsets like this into the right recepticle on actual aircraft (aircraft mechanic for USAF), but honestly I have no knowledge of how they work. Haha…

Kenny,
This is a standard waterproof mil connector used in the UK. This particular example is described as a “6P_”. You will need to clarify the _ suffix. Typically this suffix could be a standard version, a C, or E or F. This denotes the orientation of the keyways
The mating socket for this would be described as a “6S_”, with the appropriate suffix. Be aware that reverse polarity versions are also available.
The connector would be available from Amphenol. They were also at one time produced by Plessey but sadly they are demised.
The “7PF” version is the original Clansman radio connector. There were then many other versions that followed from that.
Good luck in your search.
Regards.
Chris
